Our annual Mousetrap Race for S3s coincided this year with the Friday of Green Week. Our cafeteria was transformed into a real race track, giving S3 Integrated Science students the opportunity to put into practice what they had learned in the Work and Machines teaching unit.
The challenge was simple but powerful: design and build a car powered exclusively by the energy stored in a common mousetrap using recycled and sustainable materials. Along the way, students applied key scientific concepts such as energy transfer, while collaborating, problem‑solving, and thinking outside the box.
There was lots of excitement on race day and a huge range of thoughtful engineering choices and creative designs. Most importantly, students got to demonstrate their learning in a hands‑on, inquiry‑based format with plenty of student engagement. Well done to everyone involved! ⚙️🌱
