A group of P3 and S6 students are carrying out a special audit to measure the impact of this our ‘Zero Waste’ campaign in the Mensa, measuring our waste output last week, this week and after the Easter break. To complement this, S1 and S2 students have also been participating in a survey to gauge their lunchtime food consumption and have also been sharing some ideas for sustainable snacks. Agsev, our Parents’ Association, have also organised a zoom session on Tuesday March 10 with expert Alessandra Giordani where parents learned about healthy, sustainable eating.
The Mensa Menu for Green Week was selected in collaboration with our own students at a masterclass on sustainable and nourishing local food, hosted by the wonderful Istituto De Filippi in collaboration with So.Vite S.p.A., our Mensa provider. There will be a Mensa ‘pop-up’ on display on Thursday which will explain how the sustainable menu was designed by the students and showcase some of our local suppliers.Additionally, the Mensa will feature sustainability advice from our mascot ‘Matcha’, a south Chinese tiger (designed by Art students and Membro Eco), along with illustrations of portion choices.
Habits at Home:
Families will complete a survey on household waste habits.
Parents will make a special effort to avoid wasteful plastic packaging in lunchbox snacks.
At home, our Green School targets will be reinforced by any efforts to consider sustainability in daily routines. (This could include choosing products with minimal packaging when shopping, reducing energy consumption at home, and planning meals to avoid waste.)
